Publisher Inin Games has rescheduled the release of Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition to early 2027. Originally expected in the final quarter of 2026 after its initial reveal in August 2025, the updated version of Ys Net's martial arts adventure will launch across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2. The publisher explained in a newsletter update that the team requires extra time to finalize the project and ensure the quality meets expectations. [1][2]
The revamped edition introduces modern visual and performance enhancements to the 2019 title, including 4K textures alongside support for DLSS and FSR upscaling. Players can also expect higher NPC density throughout the Niaowu area, diverse user interface tweaks, and alternative camera settings, including a classic perspective reminiscent of the original Dreamcast entries. The update offers a second opportunity for the divisive action game, which originally debuted to mixed reactions nearly two decades after its predecessor. While the underlying gameplay loop remains largely unchanged, the re-release aims to attract players on current-generation hardware who missed the crowdfunded sequel the first time around. [1][2]
