How we review hardware
We bring together independent reviews to explain what a product does well, where it falls short, and who should buy it. These are review roundups prepared with AI-assisted research. We have not tested the products ourselves.
Our recommendations
Each product has a named model and configuration, at least two review sources, a clear tradeoff and a source-check date. AI-assisted syntheses keep findings tied to their original source and test conditions. Ratings from different publications are not averaged. A useful verdict should explain when another product is the better purchase.
Common publisher ownership is listed in the source notes. It describes the breadth of coverage, not a guarantee that tests are independent. We keep manufacturer specifications separate from review sources.
Finding and checking reviews
We follow 35 publisher feeds for review discovery, including KitGuru, TechPowerUp, StorageReview, TFTCentral, Trusted Reviews and Camera Labs. RTINGS also informs individual product roundups. A feed headline does not automatically become evidence for a recommendation: only findings and measurements with source references enter the comparison data.
Dedicated review channels supplement the main news feeds. Matching reviews and comparisons appear automatically on product pages, with their publication dates, publisher excerpts and original links. Coverage labels use publisher feed types, headlines and URLs and may occasionally be wrong. Excerpts alone do not change a verdict or add benchmark results.
Review feeds we monitor · 34 of 35 available now
Feeds discover reviews; checked product roundups use the original articles. A working feed may have no hardware review in the captured window.
Video reviews
YouTube reviews can contribute to the same roundups and comparisons as written reviews. We summarize the relevant findings and link to the creator and useful chapters. The first selections use GamersNexus and Hardware Unboxed’s own written versions to check the findings. A video and its written adaptation count as one review.
When working from a supplied transcript, the exact model, figures, units and conditions must be identifiable in the source material. Automatic captions can misread numbers and model names, and spoken commentary may omit information shown only in charts. Unvalidated transcripts do not change a recommendation or add benchmark results. We publish our summary, not the full transcript.
Benchmarks and specifications
Our charts show selected factual measurements from the linked publications and videos. Each dataset keeps its test date, hardware configuration, settings and units. Native rendering, ray tracing, frame generation and AI workloads stay separate. Missing results are not assigned a zero, and we do not combine different labs into a single performance score.
Direct GPU and CPU comparisons use shared test cohorts. Battery charts across separate reviews are labeled as such; software, dates and configurations can differ even when a publication uses the same protocol. Historical results are not current retests.
Cost per frame uses the lowest matching retailer offer and the selected test’s average FPS. It appears only when every selected product has both a current offer and a comparable result. It does not account for warranty, memory capacity, power consumption or features.
Prices and availability
When connected, retailer offers come from Sovrn Commerce’s Price Comparison API. We show USD offers for matching new products, sorted by price, with one offer per retailer. The displayed check time is when we requested the data; it is not a guarantee that the retailer changed or verified its price at that moment. Provider data can lag behind the retailer.
Offers refresh through a short-lived cache. Expired, unavailable or mismatched offers are hidden. If no verified price is available, we show an Amazon product-search link without a price. Search results can include different models and accessories, so check the exact item, condition and seller. Delivery, tax and availability must be confirmed at checkout.
Budget filters use available retailer offers, never launch MSRP. Products without prices are shown separately and may be outside your budget. We do not offer historical price charts or claims about typical sale prices. Any external price-history link opens a separate service.
When offers are connected, you can ask for a price-drop alert. We check listed offers once a day and email you once when the lowest listed price reaches your target. Alerts need email confirmation, and we store only your address, the product and the target price.
Other retailers, such as Best Buy or Walmart, appear as search links when we have an affiliate relationship with them. Their links are labeled as affiliate links like Amazon’s.
Keeping coverage current
The source-check date records when we checked the linked material, not when every publication last tested the product. Product pages flag reviews due for a recheck after 90 days. Collected reviews remain available after they leave a publisher’s feed. Product matching distinguishes model generations and explicitly named capacities; family reviews may discuss other configurations. Validated automatic extraction can add new product dossiers and source-backed test results. Publisher excerpts are listed separately from findings used in the roundup.
Images
Product images come from manufacturers, with attribution links. They are not photographs of our own test samples. GPU partner designs, laptop configurations and other variants can look or perform differently from the pictured model.
Affiliate links
We may earn a commission from purchases through our links. How it worksAs an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Shopping links may earn us a commission. This does not determine our recommendations, review sources or offer order. Amazon search links use our Amazon Associates tracking ID. When an approved shopping provider is connected, its returned retailer links carry that provider’s affiliate attribution. Original review links stay separate.
Automation and search
Roundups are AI-assisted and have no human editorial review. Automated search checks require multiple review publications, cited findings, sufficient specifications, strengths and limitations, and current source dates. Sparse or stale entries stay excluded. We do not claim hands-on testing or publish combined rating stars. How Next Interrupt works.
