Broadcom has expanded its VMware Cloud Foundation portfolio with two new Advanced Services, VMware Live Recovery and VMware Compliance and Configuration Management. Alongside the additions, the company rolled out VMware vSphere Express, a 128-core package based on vSphere 9 aimed at smaller environments. The software is available now across all regions, though Broadcom has not disclosed its pricing. [1][2]
The new vSphere Express includes core tools such as vMotion, High Availability, Distributed Switch, vCenter Quick Patch, and TPM 2.0 support. Meanwhile, VMware Compliance and Configuration Management uses the VMware Salt engine to enforce standards from bodies like the Center for Internet Security. For customers in the European Economic Area, Broadcom plans to keep vSphere Standard 8 and Enterprise Plus 8 available for purchase until October 31, 2027, with extended support lasting as late as October 31, 2028. Looking ahead, Broadcom outlined features for its next VMware Cloud Foundation update planned for its fiscal first quarter of 2027, which runs through early February. That release will bring automated artificial intelligence infrastructure setup, native S3-compatible object storage on vSAN, policy-based Virtual Private Cloud networking, and native disaster recovery across thousands of workloads.
