Hong Kong-based toolmaker Arrowmax has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Arrowspace S1, an electric screwdriver that relies on an integrated camera and artificial intelligence to identify fasteners and adjust torque. Surpassing its original target of just under $11,500, the project has collected more than $164,000. Kickstarter pledges start at around $79 or $80 for the standalone screwdriver, while a complete kit featuring a Smart Case and 52 bits made from S2 steel runs about $129, with deliveries scheduled to begin in April 2027. The 6.7-inch aluminum screwdriver features a rear-facing HD camera and a retractable probe that sets the proper focusing distance against a fastener. Once snapped, the image is analyzed by software that outputs the screw's size and type to a smartphone application. The tool automatically configures its torque settings to protect fragile components, and when paired with the optional Smart Case, a two-inch touchscreen and LED compartment lights point out the exact bit required. On-device hardware includes forward and reverse controls, an OLED display showing torque and direction, and a 600mAh battery offering up to 90 minutes of use. [1]
