Kojima Productions unveils Death Stranding Isolations animated series with teaser and plot details

Kojima Productions has released the first teaser trailer and storyline specifics for Death Stranding Isolations, an anime series set within the video game universe. The show will feature an entirely original story rather than retelling the games, taking place in North America just after Sam Porter Bridges connects the continent across the Chiral Network. Outlets report varying release windows, with KitGuru noting a planned 2027 debut while Engadget reports it is scheduled to hit Disney streaming platforms next year. [1][2]

The plot centers on an isolated young girl who prefers solitude after surviving the Death Stranding catastrophe, only to be pushed into an unfamiliar world through unexpected encounters. The narrative introduces a new cast, including a wise old man who connects people using unconventional methods, a female soldier trapped in conflict, and an angry boy. Studio E&H Production is crafting the series in traditional hand-drawn 2D animation, directed by Takayuki Sano with author Tow Ubukata handling series composition and screenwriting. Game creator Hideo Kojima serves as executive producer. [1][2]

The project expands a growing slate of screen adaptations based on the franchise. Alongside the Disney-bound animated series, an animated film titled Death Stranding Mosquito is currently in development, as is a live-action feature film involving studio A24. [2]
