Atari and Retro Games Ltd. have announced a $219.99 recreation of the Atari 800XL, due April 23, 2027, with a mechanical keyboard, HDMI output, 25 built-in games, and a Classic Mode for Atari BASIC and software loaded via USB. Original cartridge support is limited and remains unspecified, while internal hardware details are undisclosed and the required USB-C power cable is not included.
Atari's latest foray into retro gaming is The 800XL, a "faithful" recreation of the original 800XL 8-bit computer first released in November 1983. The 25 built-in games should provide enough thrills for Atari aficionados. The machine also offers wider compatibility and expansion options for both commercial and homebrew Atari software.
