Electronic Arts has confirmed that studios DICE and Respawn Entertainment are teaming up on a joint project, which industry sources told Variety is Star Wars Battlefront 3. The confirmation follows a wave of restructuring and layoffs at EA that included the closure of BioWare. [2]
The reveal puts an end to competing rumors about who would helm the sequel. Industry insider Jeff Grubb and Electronic Gaming Monthly had previously linked Bungie to the project alongside DICE, but Joe Brammer, chief executive of Bulkhead Games, publicly pushed back, asserting that DICE and Respawn were already paired up on the title. While Lucasfilm Games has recently broadened its scope to include independent and mid-tier projects, vice president Douglas Reilly emphasized that massive releases like Battlefront remain essential to the franchise. Pairing DICE with Respawn combines the heritage of the rebooted shooter series with the pedigree behind Titanfall, Apex Legends, and the Star Wars Jedi franchise. [3][4]
