Meta has bought Conductor, an artificial intelligence startup whose software lets developers deploy multiple coding agents simultaneously across isolated, parallel copies of a codebase. Both companies confirmed the deal following an initial report by Axios, though financial terms remain undisclosed. [1][2]
Founded in 2024, Conductor launched its core product last summer to coordinate agents built by external labs, including OpenAI and Anthropic, across local machines, mobile devices, and the cloud. Conductor founder and CEO Charlie Holtz stated that existing core tools will remain functional until early next year, with the notable exception of the cloud service, which is scheduled to shut down on November 20 before user cloud data is deleted. [2]
The transaction continues Meta's push into developer agents, following its August rollout of Muse Code and the earlier purchase of Moltbook. Holtz teased that the team plans to introduce a new interface early next year as he integrates with Meta's Superintelligence Labs leadership. [2]
