Mina the Hollower has provided Yacht Club Games with much-needed financial stability after surpassing 500,000 sales in its opening weeks. During a Reddit AMA, co-founder Sean Velasco confirmed the release keeps the studio afloat "for now," following years of delays and pandemic-era setbacks that previously left the independent developer in a make-or-break position. [1][2]
The studio is currently preparing several post-launch updates for Mina the Hollower, including speedrunning tools, enemy and boss randomizers, and new gameplay modifiers. Meanwhile, co-founder Nick Wozniak explained that splitting staff across multiple projects had been a mistake, noting that Yacht Club has pivoted back to a focused development model. [1][2]
Most of the development team has now shifted its attention to an unannounced 3D game. While designer Alec Faulkner declined to confirm whether the project is a 3D entry in the Shovel Knight franchise, Velasco previously told Bloomberg that a 3D Shovel Knight title had reached the halfway mark before the studio temporarily consolidated its resources to finish Mina.
