Dell Technologies has introduced new cybersecurity and recovery capabilities across its infrastructure, identity, and AI platforms. A forthcoming Dell PowerStore software update scheduled for November will introduce quantum-safe in-flight encryption over Fibre Channel when arrays are connected to supported PowerEdge servers. The company also rolled out immediate identity recovery protections for Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Okta through PowerProtect. [1][2]
The PowerStore update relies on Emulex SecureHBA cards using the CNSA 2.0 cryptographic standard, including AES-GCM-256 and ML-KEM-1024 algorithms to guard against harvest-now, decrypt-later attacks. Because data decrypts directly inside the array's adapter, storage features like Cyber Detect, deduplication, and compression remain operational. For backup workflows, an upcoming December integration will automate retention-locked snapshots on PowerScale and replicate them to Dell ObjectScale. [1]
Dell is also rolling out AI-focused protections, including new hardening and operational resilience services for the Dell AI Factory alongside an updated PowerProtect AI Assistant. Dell executive Simon Jelley said the updates address vulnerabilities where current security strategies fall short, providing enterprises with broader defense against modern infrastructure threats.
