Finnish developer Remedy Entertainment announced that its latest release, Control Resonant, sold over one million copies in its first three weeks. Following its September 24 launch, the milestone makes the action title the fastest-selling release in the studio's 31-year history. Remedy did not disclose sales breakdowns across individual platforms or between digital and physical editions. [1][2][3]

The achievement outpaces the studio's previous high-water marks. The studio's previous record-holder, Alan Wake 2, took about two months to sell one million units after its 2023 release, while 2019's original Control required roughly 15 months to reach two million copies. Control Resonant also serves as the developer's first self-published title at this scale, successfully hitting the milestone despite launching into an unusually crowded September release window alongside other major industry releases. [2][3]

Chief Executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who took leadership of Remedy in February, emphasized that the launch attracted both returning players and newcomers to the franchise. Gaudechon affirmed that the company plans to continue actively supporting and expanding both the Control and Alan Wake universes going forward. [2]

CONTROL Resonant Takes CAPCOM’s Devil May Cry Head-On, As Dylan May Cry Mod Blows Combat Open With 3 New Additions

Remedy Entertainment's CONTROL Resonant is a very solid action game, and one of the developer's best in my opinion, but while playing it to put together our guides, I couldn't help but feel that its combat system is full of missed opportunities. Dylan's Aberrant weapon forms have a lot of combo potential, but the fact that you are limited to just one primary and secondary form and one combo finisher feels needlessly limiting.
