Apple will begin testing Apple Intelligence in China on November 4 through its next iOS developer beta, ahead of an official public debut scheduled for December alongside the release of iOS 27.3. The launch follows a prolonged regulatory review process in the country, during which Chief Executive Tim Cook confirmed that the platform had secured regulatory approval. [1][2]
The localized release excludes Apple's newer Siri AI entirely. Instead, the company has integrated Alibaba's Qwen model into Writing Tools, Visual Intelligence, and Siri, letting users generate original text or analyze documents and photos. The rollout also delivers notification summaries, Genmoji, Clean Up in Photos, and Live Translation across Phone, FaceTime, and Messages. Users can access Qwen through existing accounts or Sign in with Apple. [1][2]
For the initial release, Apple is restricting the features exclusively to iPhones, noting that other hardware platforms must wait for additional regulatory approvals. Supported hardware includes the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 16 and later models, alongside the iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. Eligible devices must have both their system language and Siri set to English or Simplified Chinese. [1]
