7-year-old Nvidia Shield TV Pro gets shocking 50% price hike driven by AI memory shortage

The Nvidia Shield TV is an iconic piece of Android hardware but it also hasn’t seen a refresh in the better part of a decade. But, because of the increasingly depressing state of the entire tech industry, Nvidia Shield TV Pro is getting a $100 price hike to $299, seven years after it first launched.

Initially launched in 2019, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro now retails for $299.99.

Nvidia has raised the price of its Shield TV Pro streaming device seven years after its launch and is ending production of the standard Shield TV. The Pro model now costs $299 in the United States, up from $199.

The Shield TV Pro remains one of Nvidia’s longest-running consumer devices, but its $299.99 price tag now makes the streaming box considerably more expensive than when it launched.

The price of anything with memory is skyrocketing thanks to AI. Aging streaming devices are no exception.
